This apartment is in the beautiful unspoilt Val d'Anniviers, in the Swiss canton of Valais.

Grimentz may be best known for its slopes, but it is not a purpose built ski resort - it has plenty of activities for summer visitors too. It also boasts a beautiful old village with some areas dating back to the 15th century. The old village is mainly pedestrianised with dark weathered timber houses & barns and narrow cobbled streets.

During the summer, Grimentz becomes a lovely mountain retreat for walkers, mountain bikers or anyone looking for a good time in a natural environment. There are supermarkets, bars and restaurants, sports/ski hire shops, a butcher, a hairdresser, bakery and an electrical shop. In winter there is an outdoor ice rink, which is transformed into tennis courts in the summer. There is also a swimming pool, and many well signposted footpaths.

Transport

The nearest airport is Geneva, which is approximately 2 hours drive away from Grimentz. It is also accessible from Basel and Milan airports.

You can rent a car at the airport, or you can get the train to Sierre then a bus or taxi the rest of the way.

Detailed Information

The apartment is situated on the top floor with high sloping ceilings and exposed beams. It has two balconies - one to the front and one to the rear - which both have amazing views. Perfect for sitting outside for lunch.

There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with 2 single beds. The main open plan living area contains a fully fitted kitchen with granite worktops, oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer & built in microwave.

Other facilities include underfloor heating throughout, Hi-fi, TV, DVD and Blu-Ray player (with a selection of films). We also provide free Wi-Fi. You will find the password in the visitors book, where we encourage you to leave a comment for us.

The bathroom is fully tiled and includes a full size bath/shower.

The apartment is situated near the entrance to the old village, just a few minutes walk to the lift station. There is a reserved parking space for your car, and a ski rack in the basement. The building also has a lift.

There is also a woodburning fire, which although you probably won't need to use it since the apartment is so cosy, you may want to use it just to complete the mood!

Winter Activities

Grimentz is part of the Val d'Anniviers ski area comprising the five resorts of Grimentz, Zinal, St Luc, Chandolin & Vercorin. The total area of pistes is 220km and all of the resorts are covered on one lift pass. Grimentz is linked to Zinal by cable car.

Summer Activities

In summer there are plenty of activities such as walking, mountain biking, paragliding or just relaxing in the pure mountain air. There is also a via ferrata, a climbing wall, tennis and minigolf.

You can visit one of the lovely mountain restaurants, and eat lunch surrounded by beautiful mountain views.

The lifts are open during the summer season to get you up the mountain with minimal effort.

Grimentz and the surrounding area has many amazing walks up in the mountains, which are suitable for light walkers all the way up to hardcore walkers!

Mountain bikes are available to hire, or you can bring your own, and they can be taken up in the Gondola for some downhill action.
